About Us
“Our objective in Finca
Cialitos is to preserve Puerto Rico’s treasures. In the hands of
the
people that live the land. This is the real fair trade; farmer
from the
origin – client. For us it is a pleasure to bring light to your
imagination with a mix of the newest technology and traditional
agricultural practices. The viewers’ direct interaction will
grow with
the trees as the coffee plantation grows older... Your
sponsorship will
benefit Puerto Rico’s agriculture directly.
Agronomist Joaquin Pastor González
Finca Cialito’s Birth
Finca Cialitos has been known as a coffee farm for more than 60
years.
Joaquin González Cajiao, my late grandfather, one of the few
agronomist
of his time, bought these lands neighboring Toro Negro Sector,
in Ciales,
Puerto Rico, and has since dedicated them to shade coffee farm.
Finca
Cialitos has an extension of about 100 acres (200 cuerdas) and
is
located at the top of the central mountain range, minutes from
Toro
Negro. About 2000- 3000 feet above sea level.
The farm is divided in two parts, one dedicated to agriculture
and the
other a natural tropical forest. The farm harvest fruits such
as:
oranges, grapefruit, avocados, bananas, “lady finger” bananas
and
coffee. You will also find the Coffee Roasting House. The
natural forest
has diverse trails for those who enjoy hiking, spectacular
panoramic
views or the simple pleasures of observing nature in full color.
Perfect
for bird watching! The farm borders with Toro Negro river and
exotic
“Los Morones” pond. We say exotic because it is a remote pond
with very
few visitors and accessible only to the most adventurous. On the
west
side of the farm you can go hiking down the steep forest to a
natural
spring of pure and constant water that flows from a rock. Alas,
Finca
Cialitos is a world of natural wonder which you can’t miss!
